HUGH LANE RECEIVES $2 MILLION GIFT FROM MACKENZIE SCOTT’S YIELD GIVING
Hugh Lane Wellness Foundation was awarded $2 million to assist with their efforts and growth towards establishing a new Pittsburgh-based LGBTQIA+ youth and family resource center in the coming years. The Hugh Lane Team works to improve the health of the LGBTQIA+ and HIV communities in and around Western Pennsylvania. “This is an incredible and generous starting point toward creating a leading edge LGBTQIA+ youth and family center right here in Pittsburgh, and Hugh Lane is looking forward to working with our community to establish it,” said Sarah Rosso, Executive Director for Hugh Lane.
DOLLAR BANK THREE RIVERS ARTS FESTIVAL
The annual Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival is back May 31-June 9, 2024 in Downtown Pittsburgh’s Cultural District. The festival will feature 400+ artists and musicians over 10 days, including Ben Folds, Los Lonely Boys, Martha Redbone and so many more. BERRY FESTIVAL AND CRAFT SHOW AT FREEDOM FARMS
The Berry Festival and Craft Show is back for its fourth year. The event is happening June 22nd-23rd from 11a.m.-5 p.m. The festival will feature tractor rides, a petting zoo, over 50 craft vendors ALL over the farm, a beer and wine garden, berry-flavored EVERYTHING, activities for the kids and much more. Along with everything listed above, there will be a full open-air market for shopping, concessions with food by Freedom Farms, face painting and more. $10 admission per person. FCAHS RECEIVES COMPUTER SCIENCE FEMALE DIVERSITY AWARD
Fox Chapel Area High School has earned the College Board Advanced Placement (AP) Computer Science Female Diversity Award for achieving high female representation in AP Computer Science Principles. Schools honored with the AP Computer Science Female Diversity Award have expanded young women’s access in AP computer science courses and improved gender representation in computer science. “Computer science is the source code of our economy and much of the career landscape,” said Trevor Packer, head of the AP program. “In the six years since we began the AP Computer Science Female Diversity Award, it’s been heartening to see schools like Fox Chapel Area High School welcome so many more young women into this vital field.”

PITTSBURGH PRIDE MARCH AND PARADE
Pittsburgh’s Pride Parade is happening Saturday, June 1st. Line up and gathering begins at 10 a.m. on the corner of the 11th Street and 16th Street in the Strip District. All individuals are welcome to march in the Pittsburgh Pride March and Parade in support of LGBTQIA+ rights. No registration is required. Come march together as a united community. Speakers will begin at 11:30 a.m., and the parade steps off at noon and ends at Allegheny Commons Park West.
