Local songwriter Maddie Jo Celebrates Pittsburgh With New Anthem

Pittsburgh singer-songwriter Maddie Jo is celebrating her hometown with “Falling for the 412,” a new song she describes as a love letter to the city. The Duquesne University student and Oakland Catholic alumna released the song across streaming platforms Aug. 5. A local independent artist, Maddie Jo recently won a national songwriting contest for this song. Follow her musical journey online on TikTok @maddiejosings.


North Hills Wellness Festival Brings Local Wellness Experts Together

The North Hills Wellness Festival will bring local wellness professionals, fitness experts and holistic health businesses together for a free afternoon of health, healing and community on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Body By Design Holistic Wellness Spa in McCandless. Guests can explore wellness resources from vendors including Restore Hyper Wellness, BODY20, Pilates Addiction, HOTWORX and RPE Physical Therapy while enjoying music, food trucks, giveaways, demonstrations and interactive experiences. Family House to Host 43rd Annual Polo Match

The 43rd Annual Family House Polo Match returns to Hartwood Acres on Saturday, Sept. 12, bringing together polo, vintage cars, live music and family-friendly activities to support Family House’s mission of providing a “home away from home” for patients and caregivers traveling to Pittsburgh for medical care. Presented by F.N.B. Corporation, the event features a vintage car parade, silent auction, boutique shopping, food trucks, children’s activities and live music. Gates open at 10 a.m., with pre-match festivities beginning at 11 a.m. and the opening ceremony at 1 p.m. The featured polo match begins at 1:30 p.m., with the Pittsburgh Polo Club facing a competing club sponsored by #1 Cochran. Families can enjoy pony rides and activities in The Children’s Tent. Tickets are available at familyhouse.org/polo; children 12 and younger are admitted free.


Secure Shredding and Food Drive

Protect your personal information while giving back to the community at First Choice Advisors’ free secure on-site shredding event Saturday, Sept. 12, from 9 a.m. to noon. Bring documents containing sensitive information to the shred truck, located behind the office complex at 11269 Perry Highway in Wexford. Attendees are also encouraged to bring pantry items to donate to North Hills Community Outreach’s food pantry, helping provide essential supplies to local families.


An Evening with John Green

Best-selling author John Green will visit Pittsburgh Monday, Sept. 28, at 7 p.m. for “An Evening With John Green” at the Byham Theater. Presented by Riverstone Books, the event celebrates Green’s new adult novel, “Hollywood, Ending,” a behind-the-scenes Hollywood love story with a special connection to Pittsburgh. Green will discuss the book with a special guest and answer audience questions.
