Micro-weddings continue to rise in popularity, an option for couples to celebrate their big day with close friends and family and without a huge price tag. Weddings on a smaller scale offer many of the same benefits as a larger event, but scaled down to be more personal and intimate. Venue choices for smaller weddings are plentiful across Pittsburgh—with many of them featuring gorgeous backdrops and a plethora of amenities. Get ready to start planning the wedding of your dreams!

Sewickley Quarter

Located in Sewickley, the romantic French Quarter-inspired venue, Sewickley Quarter, lends itself to a fairytale wedding. The area fits up to 125 people (with 75+ guests required for Fridays and Saturdays) and holds the ceremony and reception next to each other. The entire venue is outdoors and features an intimate courtyard, plus covered spaces.

Sewickley Quarter is an all-inclusive venue, providing options for wedding planning, catering, drink packages, tenting decorations, floral packages and other rentals.

This charming woman-owned venue also brings out New Orleans vibes with its Sidecar Bar, a perfect spot for guests to grab craft drinks and wine on tap during the event. The bar’s panoramic doors keep your guests included in the party without feeling separated from the reception.

Grab pictures on the private sweetheart balcony and all throughout the green courtyard space. Three “speakeasy” rooms are also available for the wedding party to get ready in.

Browse the ever-changing American and French-inspired food to hand-select the best bites for your big day.

The space is available for six hours on the event day and is also available for wedding showers, rehearsal dinners and other private parties.

Pittsburgh Botanic Garden

Tie the knot in the lush Pittsburgh Botanic Garden. Ceremonies are typically held in the stunning Peirce Celebration Garden, featuring a stone wall full of dreamy plants and flowers. Take the celebrations nearby to the Davidson Event Center, a restored 1870s barn with a rustic charm and oversized chandeliers. This climate-controlled room with a wall full of windows overlooks the natural woodlands and serene gardens. More photo opportunities await throughout the 60 acres of gardens and woodlands. Another perk is admission to the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden for all guests until dusk on the day of your event.

Capacity in the Davidson Event Center is 65 guests (or 100 seated without a dance floor). Under a tent in the Celebration Garden Plaza, the seating spans over double in size but can be scaled down to fit your micro-wedding plans. For even smaller crowds, two-hour daytime ceremonies without a reception are available in the Lotus Pond area (25 people) and the Dogwood Meadow (40 people).

A vendor team and day-of events manager will help with vendors and other coordination on the big day. If hosting a reception in the Davidson Event Center or Celebration Garden Plaza, the wedding ceremony is available at no additional charge.

As for catering, couples will be required to choose from one of eight vendors to work with, such as Rania’s Catering or DiAnoia’s Eatery. The equipment rental company that is preferred by the venue is also required, but all other vendor choices are up to the couple. The venue is BYOB only, so couples can also bring in their own alcohol with proof of Special Event Insurance.

The property lends itself to an elegant setting for engagement photos, wedding showers, rehearsal dinners and more.

Hyeholde

Located 10 minutes from the Pittsburgh International Airport, Hyeholde is an oasis of natural beauty. Set on four acres of gardens, the boutique venue just celebrated its 86th birthday. The rustic and romantic setting accommodates up to 110 people in its Round Room, featuring stone and glass designs. The Round Room has become a Pittsburgh venue of choice for charming weddings, rehearsal dinners, showers and just good old-fashioned parties.

Once you book an event date at Hyeholde, you’ll have nearly the whole day reserved for yourself to prepare for the celebrations. Several smaller rooms are also on property for groups ranging from 12-30 people.

The full-service restaurant (known for its popular Chef’s Table dinners) serves modern American fare with classic French influences. Couples can work with the executive chef to even customize the pre-set menu. Alcohol packages with craft cocktails and premium beer and wine are also available for purchase.

Trace Brewing in Bloomfield

Pittsburgh is no stranger to a number of local breweries, and a wedding at Trace Brewing is any beer connoisseur’s dream! Located in Bloomfield, Trace features around 6 to 10 beers on draft each week—and they’re all made onsite in their taproom. From lagers to sours, hazy IPAs and more, the beers at Trace are sure to please guests.

While the capacity fits up to 200 people for the entire space with a buyout package, Trace also has options for micro-weddings with 70 guests or fewer. Couples can host their dream ceremony in the beer garden (40 guests seated or 70 guests standing). Move into the brewhouse for the reception, enjoy the mid-century modern look, and dance and drink the night away.

As for food, several food trucks and caterers are on the preferred list, but couples are welcome to bring in their own caterer too. In fact, all of the vendors are completely up to the couples’ choice. This makes it an ideal venue for couples wanting to put personal touches on anything and everything for their wedding day. Don’t forget to bring your own day-of coordinator too! While this is not a BYOB establishment, Trace offers more than beer for weddings. They work with PA-based liquor and wine brands to offer additional cocktails and drinks for guests.
