McLaughlin Distillery

Located in Sewickley, McLaughlin Distillery is a small craft distillery specializing in bourbon, whiskey and moonshine. The brand, just over seven years old, offers more than 30 varieties of spirits—so there’s plenty to see and sip! During the tour, guests will learn about the entire distillery process including how McLaughlin makes their mash to how the barrels are made. The tour leaders are extremely funny, so great for some laugh-out-loud jokes during the event. The hardest decision in this hour-long tour is deciding which spirits to sample. Reservations are required and the cost is $10 per guest. Adults 21+ are welcome to partake in the sampling. Kids and dogs are welcome to attend the tours as well. Tours take place daily starting at 12:30 p.m., and the last tour of the day begins at 6:45 p.m.

Here’s your chance to get the scoop on a beloved Pittsburgh ice cream company. In this 90-minute tour, see how local farm-fresh dairy is churned into scrumptious ice cream. Hear from Millie’s co-founder and head ice cream maker, Chad Townsend on the tour, and ask him any burning questions about the popular ice cream brand. We’d love to know his favorite flavor! During the tour, enjoy a variety of ice cream samples, plus samples of ingredients that go into the famous Millie’s flavors. And the best part? Choose a pint of any available flavor to take home! Tours will resume this fall, so check back on the Millie’s website for an update. Admission is $25 per person, and you must be 8 years old or older to join.

Those who are interested in both whiskey production and a history of the ‘Burgh will find Wigle Whiskey’s tour both fascinating and delicious. Located in Pittsburgh’s Strip District, Wigle Whiskey hosts tours and seating tastings every Saturday. Hear how Wigle produces its award-winning rye and bourbon whiskey, gin, rum and other spirits from organic and local grains. During the tasting, listen to the tales of Pittsburgh’s Whiskey Rebellion told through the eyes of Philip Wigle. Be sure to make reservations for you and your crew in advance since these tours are limited in size and sell out quickly. Tickets are $22.20 per person. Save room for lunch or dinner after the tour in the restaurant next door.
