From the moment you walk into the OSIRIS Wellness and Day Spa in Evans City, the outside world disappears. In fact, the experience starts as soon as you get out of your car and walk onto the grounds through its gated entrance, which, with its lush greenery and 15-gallon koi pond, is designed to be as soothing and serene as a spa treatment.

Owner Marcia Klaric and her husband started the spa 21 years ago with the goal of ensuring that customers forget their cares and experience total relaxation. “Once you are inside, you are pampered from head to toe,” said Klaric. “You are greeted, given slippers and a robe, and anything and everything you need throughout the day will be provided for you,” she added, emphasizing that the goal is to feel at home.
A Place to Relax
Klaric views OSIRIS as a “...faraway place close to home. We want people to feel like they are on vacation, in a faraway place, creating a memorable experience.”
The concept is to make people feel that they can relax their bodies and their minds, which are interconnected. “We wanted people to have a place to come where they can relax, unwind, and receive services. OSIRIS is a sanctuary where we provide a variety of relaxation spaces, which makes us different from other spas. You don’t have to rush out when you’re done,” she said.
For new customers, the day starts with a tour of the facility so that they will be comfortable and get a sense of the layout. In the warmer months, guests can relax outside by the peaceful koi pond while feeling cozy in their robes.

Everything from the décor to the services offered to the name of the spa was chosen with intention. “OSIRIS is the god of the underworld. After death, you are rejuvenated or regenerated. We took that concept and incorporated it, as we want people to leave here feeling that same way,” said Klaric.
Klaric also took special care with the interior, choosing earthy tones like creams, peaches, browns, and beiges. She ensured that the energy is constantly flowing from a feng shui perspective, with no areas of stagnant energy.
A Plethora of Service Options
OSIRIS offers numerous services, including a variety of massage therapies, facials, body treatments, and mani/pedis.
Swedish massages are quite popular, but they also offer alternative massage services, such as bamboo massages and restorative healing massages. Licensed and trained massage therapists help guide customers toward the specific massage technique that is most appropriate for them. The facility also has an outdoor massage suite that is open in the warmer months.
The spa also has a menu of “alternative” services, including dermaplaning/microdermabrasion, LED light therapy, a detoxifying foot bath, reiki, and Thai herbal compress therapy.
Customers can combine services or buy packages that include three or more services in one visit. There are also membership options that offer rewards, such as free services after a certain time period.

In addition to massages, skincare is a significant part of the menu at OSIRIS. “I think it’s important to take care of your skin at any age, and the earlier you start, the longer the effects will be as you get older. There’s so much out there that women can do for their skin these days, but keeping hydrated and exfoliated—those are the key things that help us age through the years,” said Klaric.
Another aspect of OSIRIS that makes it unique is that customers who spend the day at the facility can either bring their own food or order food to be delivered to the spa.
Being a Businesswoman
For Klaric, one of the appeals of establishing OSIRIS was that it was initially a home-based business. The spa is located in what used to be the private home of Klaric and her husband, who bought it in 1999 and converted it into a spa in 2004. “I developed a plan to make sure we could create revenue out of the amount of space we had,” she said. After the pandemic, they moved to a new home not far from OSIRIS.

The wellness industry has been growing by leaps and bounds every year. Klaric said it is essential for people to take time off, relax, and unwind, and this was especially true after COVID. Even when times are good and life is going smoothly, everybody deserves a little pampering once in a while.
Though the services at OSIRIS focus on physical wellness, people often leave feeling rejuvenated in other aspects of their lives. “Overall well-being—physically, emotionally, spiritually—is all tied together. When receiving services, you are in a relaxed state of mind and being,” she said, noting that the goal is for that feeling to last long after guests have left the facility.
For Klaric, opening a spa was a natural progression of her personal wellness journey. “For my whole life, I’ve always been about working out, eating healthy, and I guess I realized the benefits of that myself. That is why it is important for me to share what I’ve learned throughout my lifetime,” she said.
From a work background, Klaric felt that her experience in business and technology prepared her to run a successful spa. “I thought I had a good understanding of how businesses operate from the ground up. I felt very comfortable knowing I could write the policies and procedures, efficiently manage client contact points, and deliver the ultimate experience,” she said. Her husband and business partner was an executive at a multimillion-dollar company. “It was a team effort, but I knew it was something I could enjoy creating.”
Klaric also credits her team of female employees, whom she said are essentially running the business for her. “They care about all of our customers, the spa, and each other. My management team is 100% of the reason we are so successful right now,” she said.
For Klaric, the most important component of the business is ensuring that people are fully immersed in their customized spa day experience and leave feeling revitalized. “We will take whatever steps necessary to ensure that people have a wonderful experience when they are at OSIRIS.”
