Doris Dumrauf is the Cranberry Artists Network (CAN) featured artist of the month. Her photography work will hang in the Back Hall Gallery at the Cranberry Township Municipal Center at 2525 Rochester Road, Cranberry Township, PA 16066 through the end of April.
An artist’s reception will be held on Sat., April 15, 2023 from 2-4 p.m. at the Cranberry Township Municipal Center. The public is invited to attend this free event.
Dumrauf is an award-winning photographer, author, and public speaker. A graduate of the New York Institute of Photography, she specializes in bird, wildlife, and nature photos. She has won several awards from national magazines, and has published photo features in Pennsylvania Magazine, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Philadelphia Inquirer, Pennsylvania Pursuits, Country Discoveries, Atlantic Flyer, and Vögel Magazine, among others. Her images have also been published in books, calendars, and on websites.
“I strive to show my subjects’ personalities without causing them harm,” she explained of her style. “Photography is my medium to share the beauty of nature with others.”
Dumrauf’s books include the nonfiction titles Create Your Own Backyard Wildlife Habitat, Common Backyard Birds, Life in a Wetland and Max Mallard Has An Adventure, which was published this year.
Her Common Backyard Birds book was awarded second place in the Feathered Quill Book Awards 2019 Early Readers 6-8, and first place best photography in the Purple Dragonfly Book Awards 2019. Life in a Wetland was awarded first place best photography in the Purple Dragonfly Book Awards 2021.
